Who We Are

A Court Appointed Special Advocate, known as C.A.S.A., is an individual appointed by a judge to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are navigating dependency proceedings. A C.A.S.A. represents the child’s best interests in court and provides independent insight to help judges make informed decisions about safety and permanency.

C.A.S.A. Partners is a separate, volunteer led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1997 by C.A.S.A. volunteers who recognized that courtroom advocacy, while critical, did not meet every need a child faces in foster care. Children navigating dependency often arrive in new homes with few belongings, face school transitions without proper clothing, miss opportunities due to financial barriers, and struggle with instability beyond the courtroom. C.A.S.A. Partners was created to bridge that gap.

We provide direct, immediate support to vulnerable children navigating abuse, neglect, and instability in Spokane County.

Through four direct service programs, My Bag, My School Bag, Needs From the Heart, and Bee Kind Garden, C.A.S.A. Partners strengthens the existing child welfare system by providing tangible, immediate support to children in Spokane County. We respond when a child needs essential items, help them walk into school with confidence, offer consistent mentorship during vulnerable seasons, and remove financial barriers that stand in the way of safety, dignity, and opportunity. Our role is to ensure that advocacy is matched with action. Each program was designed to meet a specific need a child may face while navigating dependency.
